Evening Programs
We come together weekly, on our way home from work, to refresh ourselves with a 20-minute period of Centering Prayer, liturgical calendar readings from the Old and New Testaments, a brief message or homily from the minister, celebration of the Eucharist and offering. Doors close at 6.00pm sharp, at the beginning of the Centering Prayer and reopen at the end of the prayer period. When: Wednesday's from 6:00-7:00pm. Be sure to check the current monthly calendar. Sacred Chanting Once a month we come together to sing our prayers with an eclectic mix of chants, largely from the Christian tradition. These contemplative chants range from quiet to joyful, and a strong sense of community is created as we lift our voices together. Sounding professional isn't important; rather, we sing from our hearts to the Beloved and desire the feeling of communion. Come and explore this sacred way of worshipping in community. When: Typically the first Tuesday night each month, 7:30-8:30pm. Be sure to check the current monthly calendar.
G.I. Gurdjieff is one of the most important and influential spiritual masters of the 20th century. In addition to being a gifted teacher, writer and instructor of sacred dance, Mr. Gurdjieff was also an accomplished composer of sacred music. It is said that his music can bring listeners into closer contact with their own essential nature. This evening program combines the performance of Gurdjieff's music interspersed with the reading of short passages from some of his books. This makes for a truly magical and contemplative experience. When: Typically the third Tuesday night each month, 7:30-8:30pm. Be sure to check the current monthly calendar. Taize Service Taize is a devotional service being practiced around the world. The Taize prayer service consists of meditation, music, song, gospel reading, chants, and personal prayers offered at the foot of the cross. Only candlelight illuminates the sanctuary. This universal service of reconciliation extends beyond doctrine, age, socioeconomic status, and understanding to touch our hearts and open our minds. We encourage you to risk your Western mind and come humbly before the cross. Each month we join thousands of devoted and hungry souls in this worldwide ceremony to bring the peace of Christ into our lives and into the world. When: Taize services are held at special times during the year, generally around High Holy Days or the change of seasons. Be sure to check the calendar. Daytime Programs
